Development of the Virtual Delta module to support observing estuarine salinity from space
The main objectives of this sub project are:
- Develop a data assimilation scheme based on OpenDA whereby remote sensing (RS) images of e.g. surface temperature can assist in operational decisions for fresh water withdrawal.
- Derive empirical relations between available satellite remote sensing and salinity intrusion.
- Apply the Virtual Delta incorporating remote sensing in hindcasting and forecasting studies.
