The geotechnical strength of the flood defences determines its reliability, together with the hydraulic loads. This project theme better assesses this geotechcnical strength to reduce the conservative estimates that are often encountered in current models. As a team, the projects below analyze the mechanims of dikes reinforced with sheet pile, large deformations, past performance, time-dependency in piping and modeling of erosion overtopping.
