Anthropogenic effects on the Contemporary Sediment Budget of the Lower Rhine-Meuse Delta Channel Network

J.R. Cox, Y. Huismans, S.M. Knaake, J.R.F.W. Leuven, N.E. Vellinga, M. van der Vegt, A.J.F Hoitink, M.G. Kleinhans - 10/06/2021 - All-Risk

Multidecadal Analysis of an Engineered River System Reveals Challenges for Model-Based Design of Human Interventions

Berends, K.D.; Gensen, M.R.A.; Warmink, J.J.; Hulscher, S.J.M.H. - 17/05/2021 - All-Risk
The relation between water levels and discharges in the Waal river has been estimated from observations, not finding an effect of Room for the River interventions on water levels.

Multidecadal Analysis of an Engineered River System Reveals Challenges for Model-Based Design of Human Interventions

Berends, K.D.; Gensen, M.R.A.; Warmink, J.J.; Hulscher, S.J.M.H. - 17/05/2021 - All-Risk
De relatie tussen waterstanden en afvoeren is uit beschikbare observaties bepaald voor de Waal, waarbij er geen effect op waterstanden van de Ruimte voor de Rivier maatregel kan worden waargenomen.

Evaluating residual dike resistance using the Random Material Point Method

Remmerswaal, G., Vardon, P.J., & Hicks, M.A. - 01/05/2021 - All-Risk
De reststerkte na een eerste afschuiving van een geïdealiseerde dijk reduceert de overstromingskans met 25% ten opzichte van de kans op de eerste afschuiving.

Evaluating residual dike resistance using the Random Material Point Method

Remmerswaal, G., Vardon, P.J., & Hicks, M.A. - 01/05/2021 - All-Risk
The resistance against flooding after initial failure due to slope instability of an idealised dike reduces the probability of flooding by 25% with respect to the initial failure.

How grazing management can maximise erosion resistance of salt marshes

Marin-Diaz, B., Govers, L. L., van der Wal, D., Olff, H., & Bouma, T. J. - 20/04/2021 - All-Risk
We aimed to determine how salt marsh management (i.e. grazing by large vs. small grazers vs. artificial mowing), marsh elevation and marsh age affect soil stability (i.e. soil collapse) and intrinsic lateral erodibility of salt marshes (i.e. particle-by-particle detachment).
