The test dike with sheet piles collapsed on March 17 around 4 pm. The results of this trial will be used by all dike workers in the Netherlands for years to come. They can lead to a tightening of current calculation methods, so that lighter sheet piles can be used in dikes. That saves steel and therefore money. The next step is now: to start analyzing the data obtained through intensive monitoring in the dyke and on the sheet piles.
